Mirage in pictures

Here are finally some pictures from the performance we played at BJCEM in May 2008. They were taken by photographer and artist NeAl Peruffo, a nice fellow from Naples that we met at the biennale. We haven't writen much about our piece yet, here is what we wrote about ourselves in the Biennale programme:

"Mirage explores the inner and outer fields of vision; images and perceptions of the self and others are created using mirrors. As the performance unfolds so do the identities of the two individuals in the space. Their identities unfold only to be shattered by the constant merging and separation of the images they continuously create of themselves and each other.

The dance piece is written, performed and choreographed by Runa Kaiser Larsen (choreographer) and Pernille Pultz (visual artist)"

Runaticing at BJCEM

Thursday morning we arrived in Bari with the night train- we got a whole carriage to ourselves all the way from Rome.. Since thursday we have been concerned with getting accustomed to the food, the busses and preparing for our performance that we gave yesterday.

The food here is lovely, we have been served octupus four times already and of course lots and lots of pasta.

The busses are packed and a bit slow. They leave whenever they want to, hence no official timetable..

The performance went well although setting up took a million years. Two out of seven of the technical crew spoke english and the rest ran off whenever we tried to speak to them. Eventually everything was set and we had a terrible dress rehearsal interrupted by singing estonian teenagers.

As already said the performance went really well and we both feel happy and relieved. Now we are attending to the rest of the biennale, meeting other artists from Europe and the mediterranean countries. We have made friends (or at least we think so) with some egyptians and some nice people from Naples. However the egyptians have pointed out that our thinking is a bit white and taught us to say "Sheep" in their respected language, Kharouf...

Being on a biennale is both exciting and overwhelming at the same time. The biennale is for young artists between 18 and 30 and sometimes feels a bit young.. however meeting people with all kinds of nationalities is super. We have had the pleasure of seeing a theatrical band from Palestine consisting of 4 boys and 4 girls singing about life in Palestine. We were very touched by this young and cute band Nuwwar. Check them out! (and to all Israelies who destroy lives and Olive groves in Palestine, where is the respect for living beings?!)

All in all we are having a good time, staying in a splendid hotel and watching lots of art. So long xxxxxx
